In addition to being a regular volunteer at the OBCGS Library and my consulting work, I have a few other projects that keep me motivated. I’m learning how to publish books, sell vintage collectibles and sew quilts – all on my list of hobbies.

What is really interesting is the weaving together of genealogy with my hobbies – here are some examples:

  • Antique books tell stories current at the time of publication, making them a historic resource.
  • Family heirlooms illustrate the lives of their owners.
  • Historic photographs can provide clues into who, when, where and why for past family members and their stories.
  • Quilts last a long time and their history preserves their maker’s artistic skill, lifestyle and history.
